Their food and atmosphere are both amazing! Delicious options if you're looking for a light lunch and the salads are huge! Ordered a half salad with added grilled chicken and could barely finish. The spicy crab dip is also a favorite! Beautiful place to be on a pretty day.

Do you ever have food where you take a bite and without realizing make noises like "MMM"?? That's how I felt when the Famous Veggie Burger arrived with a side of sweet potato fries. It was clear everything on the menu was fresh, creative and from a chef that really cared about the quality of the food. We sat at the bar for service because the place was indeed packed with both regulars and tourists. This gave us a great chance to see that the waitstaff was extremely friendly, full of recommendations and happy to even come up with meal ideas that weren't listed on the menu. I absolutely wish we had places like this near me in Miami! For the vegetarians it is a definite go to and for their meat loving friends the menu still contained awesome burgers, chicken and other dishes that would no doubt be just as wonderful as what we had.

Love this place! Great house brewed beer. Blackened Mahi mahi with crab cake and mango salsa over a bed of mash potatoes and veggies was my favorite dish this week. My hubby had the Blackened ahi tuna over mango Asian salad that was unexpectedly amazing. My daughter loves the pig and apple sandwich. One of the many reasons we love coming to Amelia Island.

We loved this place! The atmosphere is warm, the food presentation and taste are awesome and the staff are nice. The menu has some vegetarian options including a veggie burger, portobello mushroom sandwich and tofu tower. The tofu and bella tower was superb! Not only did it look good, the taste was awesome :)! Some veggie entrees are bland or boring at other restaurants but this was not! My hubby had the fish special and could not stop raving about it... We then came back and had the burgers (veggie and meat) and both were delicious :)!!

This place is really amazing!! We almost didn't eat here because it's not on the main drag and there was construction going on across the street. The construction wasn't noisy, it just didn't help the whole ambiance of outdoor cafe dining. But we decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway. The service was friendly. And the food was top notch. I had the lentil salad. I will get this every time. It was so full of flavor I didn't even need to add the side dressing they provide. I was raving about this dish for days after. Their peach tea was also really good. Anytime we visit Amelia Island we will for sure stop here.

They have the best Mahi Mahi burger I ever had. Also the smoked salmon platter is just addictive & the veggie burger has a very mild curry flavor.

I really wanted to love this place. However, the best I can say that it was okay. I doubt if I will return. The people were all friendly but the service was not great. They stuck us at a table for two in a corner and forgot about us a couple of times. The house craft beer was so bad they actually stopped selling it (I tried the red ale and the stout...both awful!!!). The salads were pretty good but took too long to get to the table. My wife had the Portobello sandwich which she liked okay. I had the blackened Mahi entrée which was over spiced and mushy. The food looks like the pictures but just did not taste as good as it looked. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. However, the place was crowded and noisy (in a good time way), so maybe you want to try it. I won't see you there.

This is the kind of place that has a little of something for everyone, but they seem to pull it off better than most. Really wonderful outdoor seating under old live oak trees. The service staff was really friendly and made good suggestions. All of the entrees we had (Shrimp Sandwich, Chicken Satay, and Steak Frites) were good. The sangria was nice, too: not as sickly sweet as sangria that you normally find at restaurants. Of the three, I was least impressed by the Steak Frites. The steak and frites were good, but the huge mound of vegetables that accompanied it weren't. I'd definitely go back--especially if I wanted a nice atmosphere and a menu that would please most people.

Cute little restaurant we always go to when we visit fernandina beach. I've been craving a veggie burger for ages. It's a nice burger made with couscous and veggies. I got a side of couscous salad with it instead of potatoes. My mom and grandma got the tuna melt and loved that is had carrots and broccoli mixed in. My mom got the sweet potato fries and my grandma got the potato salad. Both were very good. My aunt got the salmon burger. It had a little kick to it and was great. It's a bit pricey, but always great food. I'll be back.

I visited Cafe Karibo in desperation, since apparently craft beer is hard to find in Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach. We noticed that they have "Cafe Karibrew" which is the other half of the restaurant -- a bar. They do brew their own beer (3, to be exact). I believe they had a pilsner, a honey wheat, and a stout. None of them were any good and the stout looked more like a Scotch Ale or red ale than a stout. However, they did have a couple of the standard craft beers in bottles. I had the Bell's Two Hearted, which is always a good standby. The food was good. Solid. They have a gluten-free menu, although the GF menu is only for dinner...so when I ordered the Shrimp & Grits for lunch, they turned me down. I ended up with the black bean salad. It was tasty and good enough for the price. I'd go again. Maybe if I had dinner then I'd have been more impressed with the dish I actually wanted to eat. Who knows? I certainly wouldn't want to discourage anyone from trying this place, because it might actually be one of the better lunch/dinner/bar spots in the area.

While the strawberry coconut mojito was delicious, it was all down hill from there. We waited about 35 minutes for our table (not a problem) and then once seated we waited almost 10 minutes for our server. After taking our order we waited about 40 minutes, ugh! The people seated after us finished their meal before ours arrived. We ended up getting ours to go. We did get an apology. Apparently the kitchen had burnt our tofu stacker and had to start over. We had ordered the tofu stacker and the lentil walnut salad. The veggies and grains that accompanied the tofu were cooked to mush. The tofu had decent flavor, tasted like it was sautéed in bottled teriyaki. The salad lacked seasoning. I would go back for a cocktail but not for dinner.

Came here with a group of eight and everyone loved their meals. I ordered the lentil salad and could not stop raving about. The portion size was perfect as well. My husband ordered a shrimp sandwich and thought it was tasty. The ambiance reminded me of other beach towns we've visited (Hilton Head, Charleston, Sarasota). Everyone was really nice but the service was a tad slow. But again, it's a very relaxed environment where no one is in a rush. Oh and definitely order the unsweetened peach iced tea - so refreshing!

Delightful stop on our way back from St Petersburg. Honey glazed salmon on baby greens was such a treat and the veggie burger had an unusual twist of curry, the house brewed stout was paradise in a glass, dark high octane heaven. Their house sangria was perfect with the salmon

Great place! Food was really good. We had the veggie burgers and they were delicious! Kids meals were large and they had a good selection: quesadillas, corn dog, pizza, pb&j. Beautiful patio dinning area. Rod iron tables over concrete floors and brick surround. That's where we sat, romantic if you are not with 5 kids, but the inside seating was quaint as well. Service was friendly and attentive. Great experience for all!

We arrived early on a Saturday evening and the bar was empty so we chose to eat in the dining room. The dining room was great but we noticed when we left the bar area had filled up and had lots of energy and fun happening! I had the beet salad and butternut squash soup. Both were fantastic! My husband had the pan seared halibut. It was delightfully prepared served on a bed of well seasoned vegetables and potatoes.

If you like frozen veggies and mediocre food eat at the Cafe KariBOO. I am not sure how it got good reviews. Started out with waters in plastic solo cups. If you want to serve drinks in plastic lower your prices. The only tasty item was the shrimp and grits. They forgot to give us drinks and fries. One app actually came out after they placed our dinners on the table. The hostess was grumpy, the menus soggy, mismatched plates cause he said they ran out of them, no mojitos cause they ran out if mint and the atmosphere so so. Oh forgot there were no paper towels in both bathrooms, told them and later went in to find they never put any in. The waiter Dave was the only nice part of Cafe Karibo. Other than that we call it Cafe KariNO.

5 stars is not enough! Outstanding service and excellent food! We had crab cakes, house salad, pork tenderloin. Steak and frits, key lime pie and mixed berry cobbler. What a gem we found in this restaurant on Amelia island, we will have to return the next trip back here.

The first restaurant on the island that has real vegan options! The staff is great and the food even better. Being situated in the downtown shopping district is an added bonus.

Most of the food was good. Steak was overcooked greatly. No apologies or offers to compensate in some way were offered despite food coming out long after everyone else had finished. Charged in full and waitress stated she felt no need to tell manager about what occurred. Paid and left.

As we were driving in and looking up some places to try out while we were on the Island, The rest of our group called and told us they just ate at a cute spot name Cafe Karibo. The first thing I noticed when I walked in were the two huge beer vats, and the mat that said Cafe KariBREW... I like that. We sat our selves in the corner and our server, came over with menus, told us about the specials, and offered us some tasty brew from their homemade batches. I order the Black Bean Soup, cup and a Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with Mixed Fries of sweet potatoes and regular fries. I also ordered a Nutty Brown, which our server, Joy made by mixing a porter and a stout to create the flavor. The soup was awesome and creamy. My sandwich was a little messy but worth every bite. And the beer was delicious. Joy, our server was great. Her and my wife, also named Joy chatted about their name and how they were both crazy, and their friends call them Happy...both of them, I am not kidding... anyway, very cute spot, great service and delicious food. If you're in Amelia or Fernandina, then check them out.

Holy cow that was great food. The 1/2 pound burger was cooked just right, the onion rings are superb, and the chili is delicious. Our sever was attentive and friendly. She took care of the kids especially well and made sure we were all enjoying our meal. I highly recommend Karibo for anyone looking for good food on Amelia Island.

Cafe Karibo was our first stop to eat on our trip to Amelia Island. What a great way to start it! Joy our server was awesome; than again all Joy's are! ;) I had the big Bella, it was delishes. I didn't have any cake, but my friends did. All I heard about all weekend was how AMAZING they're cake was. Two of my friend made it a point to go back just for cake. So, I would recommend leaving room for dessert. I wish I had.

My wife and I have been here on numerous occasions. It is always wonderful. Based on reviews I tried the lentil salad ( I wouldn't normally) and it was delicious. All dressings are fresh and housemade. Recently had the blackened Mahi with crab cake. It was outstanding. Highly recommended.

We stopped in to have a drink at the bar after some shopping. I think our bartender was Lauren, she was great! She helped us pick out our drinks. The lady who makes desserts came out to chat for a minute. She was trying something new for dessert and gave us one for free. It was SO good! Orange chocolate pound cake (shaped as a cupcake) with a rum glaze! We had a great time at this bar and will definitely be back!

I wish I could give this place a 5 star rating! The food was very good, I got the veggie wrap with a side of potato salad. It was fresh and well seasoned. The price was reasonable as well. HOWEVER, our waiter did not provide great service. For an order of two veggie wraps and a salad... it took 45 minutes. And that doesn't include the 15 minutes it took for him to bring out 3 cups of water. I understand the waiter isn't the cook, but he never apologized for the wait and left our cups empty. We watched as other got food before us, and left. So that made the experience pretty annoying. I would want to go back for the food, but the service would make me double think.

What a coup! We went to visit friends in this area and they took us here...knowing that we'd enjoy it. The lentil salad came highly recommended but I really wanted something hot to eat even if I did try their brew. ;-) I had the veggie burger -- homemade -- and thoroughly enjoyed it. When traveling I'm often thrilled to find a garden burger or boca burger to feast on but here they had their own, thick, yummy veggie burger. I was a happy camper. My only regret is I was too full to try one of the delicious desserts they had...they looked homemade too.

Best veggie wrap I've ever had PLUS best potato salad I've ever had too! No wonder it's so popular! Also friendly , efficient service. Thanks, Karibo, we'll be back.

I would not recommend this place. Went on a Saturday night, and there was plenty of open tables but still had to wait 30 minutes just for a table when clearly there was a lot of empty tables. We asked why the wait, and the hostess explained to us that their kitchen was backed up, and apparently according to her it happens a lot. We ended up waiting at the bar and tried their home brewed beer, which was actually pretty good. After being seated, hostess apologized about the wait. The waiter we got was horrible. No smile, slouchy, took our orders and disappeared until she brought our meals out. This was the longest wait ever for a meal at a restaurant I have ever encountered. 45 minutes for us to get our appetizers, and almost an hour and 10 minutes just for our main course. I mean looking around the restaurant, it wasn't full! Waiter never once came back to us and apologized for the wait. We had to ask the other waiters on the status of our meal. We got out meal. For appetizer we ordered their crab cake patties. This was great! It had good flavoring, and was a decent amount. For the main course I ordered their burger, and a friend of mine ordered their soft shelled crab sandwich. First impression of the meal was good, however they were bland. The buns on both meals were burnt, and the burger that was supposed to be ordered medium was actually well done. As for the crab, you can't really taste the crab meat since it was overly battered. The best thing about the meal was the mixture between sweet potato fries and regular fries. Like I said, I would not recommend this place for a meal, however if you are coming for a beer it's not bad. This restaurant has horrible service and a pretty darn bland meal.

Best place on the island to eat. Lots of options. Ive tried just about everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet.

I only had a lentil salad with a side of sautéed fresh Mayport shrimp, and both were superb. I look forward to returning to Fernandina Beach to try Cafe Karibo's "famous" veggie burger. Also, I have no doubt that the many salads here will be superb. Unfortunately, I also tried their Karibrew Pilsner.: avoid their beer! This Pilsner is one of the worst Gastropub beers I have tried - oddly sweet with an unpalatable aftertaste - yecchh! So, my best guess is 4-5 stars for the food here, but don't bother with their awful brews!

    (4)
  • Morgan B.

I love everything about this restaurant- from the food to atmosphere to service. It's definitely a most-go-to place in Fernandina Beach! To start, the Sangria was delicious. I had the crab dip for appetizer, and they didn't skimp on the crab. I've ordered the turkey sandwich twice and was equally flavorful both times. They also had black bean soup as a special once...I wish it was always on the menu, because it's the best I've ever had! The service is quick and super friendly. Inside atmosphere is really nice, but always sit outside in good weather. It makes for a beautiful and memorable experience, and you won't want to leave. There's also a stage set up outside for local performers. Some really talented people play here, and it makes the dinner even more fun! The volume isn't too loud or intrusive so it's perfect. I highly recommend Cafe Karibo- you won't be disappointed!!

It was a hot day in Fernandina Beach and the outdoor patio at Karibo was shaded by large trees accompanied by a light breeze - perfect. We had birds flying around and it was a nice break from the heat. Service was excellent (Jana was our server) The place is also a micro brewery as well but the beers are just okay - in fact there are really only two actual beers and two blends - boring. Maybe I missed other offerings - the Ginger Beer mentioned in another review sounds interesting. Next time! Carol had the Sangria which was very good - cool and refreshing. The food, however, was excellent. I had a sandwich called the Pig and Apple - a really good ham sandwich with cheese and apple slices. What a great combination! Carol had a House Salad with a large scoop of fresh Shrimp Salad. It was excellent as well. Only a couple of blocks off of the main street, it is worth a return trip.

Although fairly busy and it has a cute outdoor seating area, first impressions weren't particularly positive - it doesn't smell very clean and a quick look through to the kitchen explains why. The lunch menu is fairly small and everything seems to come with potato salad or chips though any substitution demands a $1.99 up-charge. Adding tofu to anything is another $4 which seems egregious on a $7.99 sandwich. Still, we went for the veggie wrap hoping that nobody could mess up what is essentially veggies in a wrap. The wrap was really flavorless overall. Large chunks of warmed tofu were loaded into a mixture of wilted lettuce and assorted veggies. The tofu was heated on the same grill as everything else so the wrap smelled of grease, hardly what you want from a fresh veggie dish.

I hate to say that I was extremely disappointed with karibo. The food was pretty ok but we mostly went to try their micro brew and it was horrible at best. My fiancé and I are huge craft beer people and know our stuff pretty well. We ordered the pilsner and the wheat beer first. Both were pretty underwhelming but drinkable, though they pretty much tasted exactly the same. Then we decided to try the third and last beer they offered which was the stout ( one of our favorite styles.) I think it's safe to say it was the worst beer I've ever had and I've tried some pretty skanky homebrews. I am appalled that whoever brewed that tasted it and deemed it ok to sell. It tasted like rubbing alcohol mixed with water. I'm sorry but it was just that bad. I'm not usually one to leave a beer but it was far from drinkable. Extremely disappointing. Food was ok but I can't believe they serve that beer.

What can I say..... A wonderful place to relax and enjoy some amazing food. We had the special- fried grouper sandwich and it was delish! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful - how do you rate a server who volunteers to go to the restaurant next door to get something they ran out of? 5 stars for Dave!! Will go back the next time we are here!

Took us an hour and 20mins to get food. Sign at the front led people to believe if they came through the bar door they would get to a hostess (Wife and I included) only to find a server (female, Red Shirt) telling everyone that the hostess was on the other side like we should know that. So brushed it off, first time here. Then they wanted us to sit on the opposite side of the house from the bar, the noise level was so bad felt like you were in a drum. So we sat at the bar and one smart move we made because I feel we got the best server in the house (Lauren) although she took our order and it took an hour and 20mins to get to us. She let us know she was on top of it and she apologized and stuck by her business as being the best place she has worked. We always give a place a second chance and we will go back. The Food was very good and fresh. I am the type I dont care as much about food as I do service, If I dont feel appreciated or important as a customer, I wont go back. Lauren made us feel that way is the reason for the 3 stars and we will return.

Very cute spot with yummy food and sangria! Came here for dinner on vacation. The space has an indoor and outdoor dining area, but it was about to rain, so we ate inside. Service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced - our check for 2 entrees and 2 glasses of sangria was $33! . I had the "pig & apple" sandwich (and they were very accommodating in my request to replace the "pig" with turkey) and my husband had the Caesar salad with shrimp. We'll be back the next time we visit Amelia!

I'm so sad to write this review. This restaurant was not at all what I remember it to be. The atmosphere of a weekend night must've really fooled me. This visit was a weekday evening. Busy enough but not the live band under the oak tree with twinkling lights experience. The service was fine. The food was okay. Their stout, which was the only beer they brewed that was available, was horrible. It was sour and weak and nothing like the strong rich flavor of a stout. The server noticed we didn't touch our beers and took one of them off the bill which we appreciated. My Thai salad was good but it was nothing special. It was reminiscent of my healthier version I made at home. My fiancé was happy enough with his burger and fries. The crab and corn dip was good. If I go here again, I might order that over drinks. The menu mostly consisted of sandwiches with salads, appetizers, and pricey dinner entrees. Somewhat limited in terms of getting reasonably priced entrees. I don't plan to return here for dinner. I like the setup of the restaurant. When they have live music and it's warm enough to sit outside, do it. Just skip the meal and have something small and munchy with drinks.

Great casual place with one of the prettiest courtyards on the island! Great desserts made from scratch go a long way with me. Try that chocolate cake! and check out the beer they brew themselves. go. go now & enjoy.

This review has been a long time in the making. Not sure why, other than a severe case of writers blaziness, which is a mix of block and laziness). The last time I went to Amelia Island I stayed in a hotel with no real kitchen capabilities other than a fridge so I went out for most meals. My friend and I came here every single night for four nights. The meals were large enough to save half and eat for lunch the following day. I tried a lot of menu items, all of which were damn good, but my faves were the veggie wrap followed closely by the curried chicken salad wrap. The salads are great, especially since you can get them as a side to your sandwich for fairly cheap. This place gets one of my top ratings for Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach. The housemade stout is pretty good too. **Bonus feature is the lovely outdoor patio that allows pups.

Cafe Karibo's eclectic menu, shabby-chic atmosphere and delicious in-house brews all make it my go-to spot when I'm in "the Dina." Last time I was there it was to celebrate a friend's birthday on what appeared to be a pretty busy Friday night. We made a reservation for 10 people on the patio, but we ended up with about 16. They accomodated us with extra tables and chairs very quickly. Our server was nice and attentive, and everyone had their drinks relatively quick for the size of our group. I'm a fan of their Karibrews, but I was craving a Magic Hat #9 so I went for that in a bottle. I started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was new to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Tuna was fresh and cool and the accompanying noodles had a wonderful, asian flavor that I found delightful. For the entree, a friend and I decided to go in together and share an appetizer-sized order of Shrimp n' Grits and the Big Bella Sandwich. I'd had Karibo's Shrimp n' Grits on a previous visit and LOVED it. Pretty traditional except for the addition of a delicious etoufee-style gravy that brings the whole thing together in a totally new way. It's not on the regular menu anymore, so when I saw it listed as a special I jumped at the opportunity to order it. As I expected, it was delicious and cooked perfectly. The Big Bella Sandwich was also very tasty, but it got a little messy at the end as the Portobello, Spinach and Artichoke juices ran together with the basil garlic mayo. Still a scrumptious blend of flavors, just needed a napkin and fork. We brought a cake for our friend, so no Karibo dessert this time. Overall it was another great experience and also a wonderful party for my friend.

Stopped in for a great dinner on the outdoor patio. The red snapper special was so amazing that I am still daydreaming about it a week later! I would be surprised if the fish hadn't come off a boat that morning, and with such a beautiful piece of protein the chef did not over season or over cook. Perfect. Yummy mashed potatoes, and we had a cake that was a tropical fruit with a whipped cream layer- light, moist, and not a sugar bomb. In short- go here. Foodies will not be disappointed.

Food is really, really good for being on the Island. Love their couscous salad with grilled chicken (small portion is PLENTY big enough). Their regular and veggie burgers are both really tasty. Really cute outside seating area and nice small bar area. Definitely a must if visiting the area.

The restaurant itself is adorable. Great ambiance and the outdoor patio is perfect. The night we went was pretty cold, so we sat inside. They clearly didn't have enough waitstaff working to accommodate the amount of tables. We waited 15+ minutes before someone even took our drink order, and by that time we ordered the whole meal since we knew it might be awhile before the waitress came back. The staff was friendly but overworked and overwhelmed. The drinks were watered down and the sangria tasted like a regular ol' glass of red wine. We ordered the tuna, crab cake and queso crab dip appetizers. The tuna was decent, but the crab cakes were delicious! I would skip the dip next time - really not worth the calories. We also tried the veggie burger, which was good. Our littlest diner had the kid's cheese quesadilla and promptly ate all of if. All in all, not horrible but not anything spectacular. I would come back for the crab cakes and veggie burger, but not much else.

We've been here several times over the years, and it has always been good and consistent. Anyone can find something to eat here. Although I didn't try the beer brewed on premise, I was not impressed with the selection. What about some creative beers with local ingredients? Some IPA's, high-gravity bears - something interesting. Cafe Karibo management, are you listening? The beer selection is a serious week spot. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

Great karibo burger and crab queso. This place rocks. My wife and I went here again a month ago and have eaten here at least 20 or more times. Great food and service. Offers happy hour and has in house brewery. Once a month or so has wine tasting in the evening. Go to this event when scheduled. The wine tasting includes food and is fairly inexpensive.

3.5 Stars Visited Cafe Karibo for lunch with my family (wife + 3 kids) while in Fernandina for a quick vacation. We sat outside in the attached courtyard, which is just to the back of the building. It's a great spot to eat, with lots of tall, shady trees to keep the sun off of you while you eat. There is even a small fountain to add to the character. We seated ourselves (no hostess for lunch?) and were promptly greeted by our server. Both my wife and I tried one of the daily specials; Chipotle chicken flatbread pizza and Cajun chicken tacos respectively. Kids had chicken and cheese quesadillas. While both of the specials were good, we agreed that they could have used a side of something (salsa? ranch?) with which to dip them in as the chicken was a bit dry. Since the kids' quesadillas came with salsa on the side (which they didn't like), we used these to rescue our meals. Service was great throughout. Attentive without being overbearing. Spent about $50 including tip. If we make it back through town, I'd definitely try Cafe Karibo again.

We were seated, served, and got our food quickly. The service was very friendly and was great about giving advice when asked. I loved my veggie wrap & Thai noddles. My husband had a great burger. Good prices for what you get too!

Service was friendly but slow. However, sometimes you should expect that at individually owned restaurants especially in the south. The ambiance is relaxing. As for the food, my niece had the spicy Thai noodles and they were pretty spicy for a regular dish (especially for a younger person). The veggie burger is definitely not the best I ever had. I have been a vegetarian for 19 years and this burger was mediocre. It fell apart and had way too much curry powder in it. A small scoop of potato salad with the burger for $11 is definitely not worth it. I worked in San Francisco and could get an awesome veggie burger with a boat load of fries and a drink for the same price. We visited on a Fri night and was told the kitchen was not ready to support the crowd. Decent for a tourist town but would never make it in a bigger city.

Ate in the back garden, which will be fine again once the carpenters finish the house across the street. Wife had Italian turkey sandwich, which was delicious. I had the soft shelled crab sandwich, which was unusual, but excellent. If you haven't eaten here, you MUST try this place.

Very good food. Very good courtyard. Poor service. Feed the cute cat! He likes fish. Skip the live music.

Had the thin crust pizza & loved it. The smoked salmon platter was also superb. The only downer was the kids pizzas which looked like totinos store bought frozen pizza. We'll go back, just w/out the kids

I grew up in Fernandina & now live in Jacksonville but Karibo is a must when I make the trip home. My favorite....well that's hard because I actually like no LOVE pretty much everything on the menu. The shrimp & grits are a must, cous cous salad add shrimp, tuna app, spring rolls, the pig & apple, pap's chili, the tuna melt.....I really could go on & on. The menu is unbeatable, the atmosphere especially the courtyard/outdoor seating is perfect & the staff is very welcoming & helpful. 5 STARS, I highly recommend. Anytime you make a trip to the DINA you're blowing it if you don't check out Cafe Karibo!

Omg! Sweet Potato Fries... Friggin' awesome! Burger even more awesome! Live music was great! The hostess gives you the option to sit inside or out. We chose the inside to hear music. However, the patio area is beautifully decorated and more intimate if that's what you are seeking. Atmosphere very eclectic and hip. It looks like Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley met in a coffeehouse, fell in love and produced surfing hippie kid. Ha ha. Okay, maybe I'm going a little too far. I have been drinking the Sangria, which is also delicious. Children should stay away during the evening hours...especially unattended, crying, or misbehaved ones. They disturb the performers as well as the peace of the atmosphere. Just sayin'. I will recommend this place to all my friends. I see future outings every time I come to visit.

This place is great! A pleasant surprise in Florida and have not eaten somewhere this good since we moved from SoCal. If visiting again, we would definitely stop into Karibrew again. The home pilsner and stout were good, the red was ok. The chili was delicious and the spicy cornbread was a good addition. By far, today's special of shrimp Alfredo flatbread was amazing.

I've eaten here many times. My brother was a cook years ago and I've always been a fan. The menu is unique (pig & apple sandiwch, chicken curry with papaya chutney, etc) and no one I know has been disappointed with the food - unless you're not into any kind of ethnic, veggie, or "new" food. The service has always been a little ... slow. That's why I don't give them 5 stars. They're nice enough, but that only goes so far.

Out of two items we ordered for dinner so off to a bad start. Disappointing food--the fabled veggie burger disintegrated--and the musician on the patio was terrible.

Cafe Karibo is deserving of local accolades. CK is dog friendly, on the outside patio of course, but there's much to keep your doggies interested, like nipping at incoming customers.....aarr-hhhroof. Partook of a nice spinach quesadilla & a shrimp bisque take out for a friend (creamy delicious!) think I might also have had a bite of lobster mac & cheese. If you actually need a reason to seek Cafe Karibo out, here's a fine one: in-house small craft brewed ginger beer.... with lime & a shot of Gosling rum. If ever there was a reason (and there are many) to visit the beautiful, romantic, Victorian period streets of Fernandina, the ginger beer at Cafe Karibo will make you rethink your own place in history. Very attentive waitress & the doggies were treated with hand crafted doggie biscuits from RedBone Bakery. These were obviously scrumptious as they were munched in rapid dog time. Now, if there was only a doggie menu!! We'll be back, again & again.

Indoor and outdoor sitting. Pleasant atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly.Food was fresh and delious. At first when looking at the menu, I was not sure because the menu did not list the choices in a way that would jump out as special. Decided on the Bella burger which came with potato salad. Yum! Every bite was great. Also had one of the home brews , a Pilsner which was excellent. Our whole party of four were quite happy with the food. Highly recommended. We also had the reuben, the veggie burger also delicous with just the right seasoning and a house salad. The black bean soup was some of the best we have had. Went here on advise of a local. Pays to ask. Say hello to the owners cat Pointer, a sweet black cat who loved mushrooms.

I went there with my children and we felt that the food was ok, but nothing to write home about. The service was lacking and the staff was more interested in talking about the customers. The manager seems to have a check the box mentality and treats his staff as pals.

They were short staffed the day we ate there. One of the waitresses had a sudden death in the family. However, our waitress worked hard to make sure that service didn't suffer, even though everyone in the restaurant had been deeply effected by this loss. We had the Pig and Apple sandwich and a chicken wrap. Both were excellent but the Pig and Apple was by far our favorite. We will definitely visit here again.

I LOVED this place. Eclectic dining at it's finest!! Living in Michigan I almost cried with happiness seeing softshell crab sandwich, a crab cake burger and what I ordered....a salad topped with lentils and chick peas-it was AMAZING. Most things here are homemade and it shows, the dressing was delicious as was the feta cheese and grilled shrimp I got on my salad. Fries are a mix of handcut sweet potato and regular fries. It also has a bar attached to it with homemade brews and their famous sangria. Great atmosphere, and one of the few places open for lunch that caters to a younger crowd. I wish I was going to be back in the area again soon to taste some of their fantastic looking homemade desserts! There is something for everyone one this menu, all fresh and prepared daily, just a nice variety and twist of the same old lunch options. If I am back, one meal or more for SURE will be here.

Service was a bit slow (or was it just the kitchen on Tuesday Trivia Night?), but otherwise we really enjoyed this. Very fresh shrimp made its way into two of our dishes, including the AWESOME shrimp and grits. Blackened mahi had a very nice touch with the inclusion of a crab cake. Certainly one of the more interesting menus in the Fernandina area.

We ate at the attached Karibrew and enjoyed a couple of their brews with our meal. Loved the food and their beer! Definitely recommend for a nice afternoon meal. I had the turkey Cuban which comes with carmelized onions and I think a basil mayo. Delicious. I also tried their stout beer which I also recommend. Enjoy!

My husband and I ate at Café Karibo Saturday night for dinner, 6-25-2011. It was during normal dinner hours. (Put our name on the list to wait around 6:30, sat down around 7:20) According to the website, there is a very pretty patio you can sit at outside, or you can choose inside. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place and I wouldn't be back. Bland and overcooked food, bad basic wine, poor service. This place isn't worth your money and doesn't live up to its reputation. This is the basic run down, or you can choose to read my longer review on Trip Advisor, as Yelp wouldn't allow that many characters.

We wandered into this small café mid-afternoon on a quiet Friday. Not sure if they were really open or just between shifts; we didn't know what to expect. What we found was thoughtful, friendly service, and a nice, late lunch on their brick patio. The shrimp salad sandwich on a croissant was tasty, my corn chowder was delicious. Unlike many places in downtown Fernandina Beach, it didn't seem to be focused on the "young retiree" demographic. That afternoon, they were popular for takeout and the menu looked family-friendly. In addition to the patio and main dining area, there's a small bar & a separate brewpub, which I guess is really more gastropub (a description that probably hasn't hit north FL yet.) My favorite feature of Café Karibo is the patio. Shaded by old oaks with plenty of tables, it will be a great spot for summer dinners.

We went to Cafe Karibo based on recommendations found here. It was a terrible mistake. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for a table inside (it was cold outside). After 70 minute wait, we gave up and sat outside. The service and food were abysmal. One exception was the shrimp and grits which were good (not the best I've ever had). The flank steak was extremely tough and overcooked (it was ordered medium rare). The waitress said our food was "in the window" but she didn't bring it for another 10 minutes which was probably the cause of the overcooking. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Love love love Cafe Karibo! We always make time to stop here when we're in town. The patio is great on a nice day, and the inside is quaint and cute. I highly recommend the veggie burger, it's the best I've ever eaten! Their wraps are great too!

Loved the viggie wrap and bucket of sweet potato fries.. maybe some of the best ever. No sauce though, but sweet! Sangria was good, home brew beer was fair at best. overall, great for light lunch or dinner.

Great food, great atmosphere. Laid back, local art hanging on the walls. Awesome salads. Portabella sandwich, karibo burger, and salads were all hits. Tried 3 micro brews. Liked the stout and summer wheat. Curry Cick salad wrap was also flavorful.

Great place, excellent atmosphere, pet friendly, comfortable patio, healthy and exceptional flavors!! I had the side salad of Thai noodles - super bright with colors from cabbage and peppers and a kick in the sauce. Only complaint would be it was large for a side salad - I would have taken in home but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. Crab cakes were perfect for me, not overly fried, just quickly sautee'd with a wonderful spicy sauce. so happy to find great healthy restaurants while traveling!!!!

We went about 2 or 3pm on a summer weekday, and it was quiet, which was nice. We chose to eat inside in the ac, but the patio looked lovely. The service was friendly & very efficient. The food was good, a little pricey for essentially pub food. There was no burger on the kids menu, which was weird. Even the adult menu only had a half-pound burger. Now I am not a health fanatic, but I don't think your average person needs needs a half pound of meat in one sitting! When I asked if they could make a smaller burger, the waitress said they were pre-made and weighed (uh-oh, THAT'S not what I want to hear-I'm thinking frozen patties). I could have suggested that the cook just halve the meat, but my family doesn't like me to make waves at a restaurant when they are hungry! So my 12 and 8 yo kids had the burger, but couldn;t finish it. Which is too bad, it was 9.99 plus and extra $1 for cheese. I think that is too much. Turns out, it did look freshly made & they said it was tasty. My crab sandwich was good, but for $13 it wasn't a huge piece of crab. The kids' menu corn dog came with a bag of sunchips and a slice of orange for 5.99. Really? You couldn't throw in a drink for that price? The more I think about this place, the more I dislike it! Anyway, I'd try one of the many other places downtown or go to Sliders at the beach before I'd go back.

Cafe Karibo (and its companion brewery Cafe Karibrew) is exactly what I had been looking for in North Florida. I love trying new microbrews, so it was the pub-side that initially drew us to this place. I was a little nervous since I had read several reviews about restaurants in Fernandina Beach being overpriced and serving only average quality food. I haven't tried enough places in here to say whether or not that is true, but, please, oh, please, do visit Cafe Karibo. We have now eaten at Karibo twice, and the report is as follows: On the first visit, everything was perfect! The atmosphere, the food, the company...EVERYTHING! The entire menu looks so enticing, it's hard to know where to start. The building itself is a bit understated and off the main drag. It is towards the far end of 3rd street as you are coming into town. As another reviewer has noted, it is a little hard to tell whether or not it is open as you approach from the opposite side of the street. We also weren't exactly sure where to enter, so we opted for the patio, which seems to be the main entrance. The outdoor seating area of Karibo/brew is part of its charm. The wooden-decked patio is protected from the Florida sun by a tree canopy that not only keeps out the heat, but also seems to invite a pleasant breeze. The atmosphere is awesome! A traditional stone, 3-tiered fountain adds to the calm, natural-feeling environment. Just off the deck, there is a crushed sand path that is apparently used during their Pétanque (French lawn bowling, aka Bocce ball) evening on Wednesdays. (NB They also have trivia on Tuesday evenings.) The large, open space at the end of the deck would seem to play host to live music on occasion. The inside is nice as well. It feels a little like an island hut. If it were any other restaurant, I wouldn't be averse to sitting inside, but the patio is just so refreshing and is part of the appeal of Karibo. As for the food, on this trip, we were in the mood for burgers. I HIGHLY recommend them! If you look on Karibo's menu, you won't find them because the are on the "pub grub" menu (a white, laminated sheet that is offered as an insert) from Karibrew. The burger is juicy and is topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese (optional - though I guess all the toppings are optional...), and a big, juicy, grilled onion. The flavor and the volume do not disappoint. The burger is also served with a mix of sweet potato and regular fries. While the sweet potato fries were my favorite, they are not very numerous in the mix, so savor each one! I love fries, but usually eat them quite sparingly, so I picked a few of them off my boyfriend's plate. For myself, I had ordered a side salad (an extra dollar) instead. Not as indulgent as the fries, but still quite tasty. The vinaigrette that accompanies the greens is well-conceived. We also had a Turkey Cuban at the table which I highly recommend as well. We substituted jack cheese for the typical Swiss, and it was scrumptious. I was less impressed with the veggie burger that I ordered on our next visit. It's not that is was bad, but it just did not stand out from any other average veggie burger from the freezer (although, to be fair, it is a little thicker) It left me disappointed that I hadn't ordered the regular hamburger. The beer was very good as well. I love nut-brown ales, and very much enjoyed Karibrew's version. The pilsner was fine, and I think the other option was an IPA. If you are in Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, or Jacksonville, for that matter, I highly recommend a trip up to Cafe Karibo. The public beaches on Fernandina are wide, flat (they don't slope too much, which makes it nice for a run, particularly at low tide), and seemingly not too crowded. I love the place so much, I even bought one of their simple, yet attractive, t-shirts to show my support! NB Although we didn't have any problems the first time, it might not be a bad idea to have some sort of bug repellent. I'm a mosquito-magnet, and the biting flies seem to have similar preferences in people.

We enjoyed the atmosphere...sat inside since it was a little cool out, but the outdoor seating looked nice too. Inside it was kind of rustic/eclectic. The service was great and FAST. We were very happy that they knew something about eating gluten free (my husband has celiac disease) and even offered to make a different sauce for one of the dishes. Everything was DELICIOUS. I had the Big Bella sandwich and my husband had a shrimp and grits entree. Apparently they have a rotating menu of entrees (not listed on their website). Our server was helpful, friendly and attentive. We would recommend this place.

I'm a beer snob and I have yet to find a home draft here I don't like. Add the amazing onion rings, spicy thai noodle salad, and I'm hooked. But honestly, you had me when you didn't ask what I meant when I said "vegan". p.s. your sangria's are fantastic

We were wandering around here looking for a place for dinner when we read the sign pointing to Cafe Karibo. My wife pronounced it 'Cafe Caribou' and we were laughing about it when another couple passing by mentioned they were there last night and really liked it. So we took their advice. Glad we did. Every single thing we had there was awesome. Their on site brewed beer was spectacular, some of the best beer I had had anywhere in a long time. We had soups to start, me the Vegetable, and my wife the chili with cornbread - both perfect. I had the special that night, Lamb Curry on Coconut rice, and every bite was heaven, I talked about that dish the rest of the night. Service was great, and friendly, a nice change from the awful and snooty Ritz we were staying at! We liked it so much we were back there the next day for lunch!! Highly recommended. Just go.

If you want bar food, this place is probably OK. I ordered the grouper/scallops with garlic, white wine and pasta......this was a waste of good grouper. My wife had the Veggie burger, but after one bite sent it back......the manager would not give us any credit on the bill. She then ordered a salad which was quite good. There are lots of other dining choices in Fernandina Beach.....have a beer and go someplace for dinner. Maybe Espana?

we were excited to try this place as we have heard all about their made fresh menu. Well our experience was not all we had hoped. The inside is kind of run down and we were served our meals on chipped plates. The food was really just average. Nothing to write home about. Some good points were that the service though very slow was friendly, the outside looked cute though it was too cold to sit out there.

My husband and I went to Fernandina Beach for a weekend together while he was attending FLETC in GA. We stopped in Cafe Karibo, because they have their own brewery. The beer was not nearly as good as any we had tasted while living in the Seattle, WA. The menu looked really good, but we had already eaten lunch, so I did not try it. They had the best vegetarian selection/healthy selection that I saw while in Fernandina Beach. The service was terrible. We had a guy that acted as if he would rather be anywhere other than work. I think that experience would have been different had we been in the cafe vs. the bar area. I know the manager came in and reprimanded the same employee for not cleaning tables after other patrons left the restaurant. We would have spent the afternoon there, had his attitude not been so terrible.

Strolled by this place after first getting in to town after passing several other places that were completely empty. Karibo actually had some people there so we felt it must be decent. I'm really glad we stopped here. We got a seat in the courtyard next to a bubbling fountain. The courtyard was old brick patio with very old trees overarching the iron tables. Seating outside outnumbered the very plain interior dining room at least 3 to 1. The day we were there it sounded like they were a person short because service was not so hot. They forgot a drink order and getting our food took a little longer than was comfortable. That said, the wait was worth it. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had a veggie wrap with a great potato salad and my girlfriend had a portabello mushroom sandwich she said was quite tasty. We also split a house salad which was much more creative than your usual lettuce, tomatoes and carrots. Bottom line; I would highly recommend this place as a destination for lunch or dinner when you're on Amelia Island. I'm sure the courtyard is very cool at night to enjoy a drink in. Just bring your bug spray.

Went by this place while on a business meeting looking for somewhere to get a bite to eat and a beer, it did not disappoint. The veggie burger i had was great one of the best I have ever had. They have a number of beers they brew right on site which were all tasty. I was in there on a Tuesday night and they had trivia going on so the place was packed. It had a great atmosphere and I will visit next time I am on a business trip in the area.

Stopped here for a couple of appetizers when shopping in downtown Fernandina Beach. I had read great things about Cafe Karibo, but my food experience was just middle-of-the-road. They do have home brewed beer here, but during my visit three of the four were sold out. Had the Crab and Corn Dip - just ok - served with multi-colored tortilla chips (the wife said that she couldn't even taste any crab) and also the Thai Spring Rolls - which were good, but a bit greasy. I'd be interested to try this place again for dinner, because some of the sandwiches and entrees look good.

The microbrew at this place sucks! I can not explain how bad this beer is, a brown stout? If you like beer, skip this place. As enthusiast of good beer, I was completely offended.

While visiting Amelia Island, not knowing where to go to eat, we went to Cafe Karibo because of the great ratings from Yelp. While the food was pretty good, we did overhear the waitresses tell customers that they did not know, at apporoximately 7pm, if the kitchen would be serving what was on the posted menu on the outside of the restuarant. the kitchen would let them know if they would be serving that night. I mean, WTH?

The amelia island historical society had a luncheon function here two days ago. We ordered from a special menu..I can say that everyone at my table of 10 seemed to enjoy their meal....we were upstairs in the banquet room . I had a curry chicken wrap...The curry was mild and it tasted super fresh. The tortilla was spinach. the wraps were very generous in size. There was a scoup of homemade potato salad on the plate...it was 5 star. there is a lovely garden with tables on the 1st floor..well shaded. there was also a large shaded porch on the 2nd floor. I took a look at the main dining room...A lot of charm. The lunch menu had a lot of interesting wraps..The lunch prices mostly seemed to be 9 to 12. it seems to be worth a return visit...we had group service to it is difficult to rate the servers. The ones I encountered. we're cheerful and focused. ...I will be b ask soon.

Very busy was easter sunday and were one of the few places open so ill give a little leeway. They were out of their potato hash (which was a little upsetting as this was one of the things I wanted). Ordered the thai spring rolls which were really good. The steak and eggs also really good. Here is where it went a little south my wife ordered the cuban sandwich they brought it without the ham on it. I ordered the grits as a side and they didnt bring them with my meal and never got them. The server was very sorry when we finally got her attention but by that point was very put off. I will give them a try again hopefully to the better service.

I've been to Cafe Karibo a few times and therefore, a bit surprised when I realized I never wrote a review on this establishment. Our recent weekend trip to visit my sister and brother-in-law, we found ourselves looking for a nice relaxing lunch spot after a nice short walk at Fort Clinch. We remembered Cafe Karibo has this really nice outdoor seating and wanted to take advantage of the fabulous weather we had this weekend. We got there around 12:30 PM and tho they were busy, we still were able to snatch a nice corner table in their patio seating area. I ordered a bowl of their soup of the day, which is a brothy seafood soup and their cheese burger. The soup was generous in size and amount of seafood. It was nicely flavored and very hearty. Hubby and I shared the soup, and even then, it filled me quite a bit that I could only finish half a burger when my entree came. The burger was nice and juicy, grilled just right. Again, pretty big portion with generous amount of fries. My husband ordered a sandwich which he enjoyed very much. The outdoor atmosphere was very nice and laid back. Our server was very nice. The only minor complaint was the very confused and disinterested food runner that didn't look like he wanted to be there at all. That was very minor and we still had a very enjoyable dining experience.

This is a great little spot in Fernandina. The GPS led us to a side street off of Centre Street, not far from where the Shrimp Festival is held. We lucked out a was able to get a parking space right in front of the restaurant. We walked into the back patio and met some friends at a patio table, completely outside. When I say that I mean that there is no awning or covering over our heads, only the trees. Luckily it was a gorgeous day with a nice breeze blowing. I settled into my seat with a 10 spice mojito as gazed over the lunch menu. A friend ordered the Crabby con Queso for us to share, a cheese, corn, and crab dip with housemate tortilla chips. Those were very good. I ended up ordering the Big Bella, a portobello mushroom sandwich , but I substituted the potato salad with a soup made with celery and blue cheese. I swear I didn't taste any celery in the soup but I didn't care. That soup was excellent! The sandwich was very good but the ciabatta bread may be too much for it. It was a lot of bread for its contents. I still ate it all. Our waitress asked us afterwards if we wanted dessert. I didn't think they had any since it wasn't listed online. One of my friends recommended the strawberry cake. Hmm that sounded good. I split a piece with a friend. It was just ok. It tasted like a box cake mix cake. My friend didn't like it at all. I definitely would like to come back for dinner if I'm in the area. The atmosphere was wonderful.

Fabulous suggestion from a friend and local while here on vacation!! Had shrimp and grits, and crab dip apps. Both were excellent, but I'd get the dip again...and again...and again! Also got Mahi (crabcake on top) and scallops entrées, both excellent. Small leftovers to make OMG breakfast! A must-do while visiting!!

One of the best dinners I've had in a LONG time!! We stumbled upon this place thanks to the recommendation of a bartender in the area. We were pleased to find that Café Karibo not only offers great food options but also is brewing their own cider...including a fireball one (yes fireball!). On this particular night we decided to split the Ahi Tuna appetizer and Smoked Salmon appetizer. The tuna stole the show right off the bat. For my entree I had the Shrimp & Grits. They were good but different that the Shrimp & Grits I'm used to. Not in a bad way though. I would still recommend them, especially if you like Shrimp & Grits. After we ate you would think we would opt for dessert all considering, but no, we continued to discuss how awesome the tuna app was and our waitress mentioned that one of the dinner specials we had quickly passed over while she described them was a larger portion of the app we had loved so much. We didn't even consider it b/c we were already getting the app portion, but after knowing how good it was, we decided to order it anyways...as our dessert, lol. For $15 we got a HUGE portion of Blackened Ahi Tuna served in a crispy shell with an amazing slaw. It was absolutely amazing! I honestly didn't think it could be any better than the app but boy was I wrong. I could easily order this dinner again and again it's that good. We will definitely be back and if you're in the area and don't stop here, you are missing out!

Solid dining option. Not much to say except that we enjoyed our meal here. There was live music when we visited on a Friday night. I ordered a belt fish that was, while fresh, a bit bland. The crab dip and chips were also good. Nothing too spectacular given the wealth of dining options around but we enjoyed our food and we wouldn't mind revisiting.

Nice vegan selection, Good service, quaint environment, right down town. Highly recommended. Bar is also very cool and outdoor eating options.

Cafe Karibo is a cute bistro tucked away off Centre St on North Third. The decor is a mismatch of different periods that all come together effortlessly. The patio is perfect for lunch on a sunny spring day. You really can't go wrong with this off the wall bistro. I've been to Cafe Karibo twice and each time it's been absolutely delicious. The vibe of the place is very hippy, relaxed, cool. The service is friendly and attentive My favorite thing on the menu is definitely the lentil salad. It's so flavorful and filing. Overall this place is a great place to grab a meal after strolling through downtown Fernandina Beach!

Was desperate to eat a burger so I got one here. It was really good. Nice and juicy with solid bread. There were caramelized onions with it but they were cold and that was unexpected. The fries were good not great. Sweet potato fries were too soggy. My friend got the chicken wrap and didn't love it. I would definitely come back for that burger!

This place is amazing! Great food and ambiance. One of the best sangrias on the island. Outdoor and indoor seating.

Chicken on salad gave me food poisoning. My mother's burger was nearly burnt and food took forever to get to the table.

Good was spectacular. The pig and apple; the turkey Cuban; the shrimp salad in croissant; and the Baja chicken wrap. The service was pretty bad. Our server didn't tell us any specials or soups, etc.; had to get our own cutlery, etc. If you can handle slow service, it is worth it for the food.

Finally, after 5 ok meals on Amelia Island, we found the best restaurant there, Cafe Karibo. Brooke was an efficient, friendly and knowledgable server. Food was prepared perfectly and the prices were very reasonable. I had the flounder special and my wife had the best crab cakes she had ever eaten. Comfortable al fresco dining made this our most favorite restaurant of our vacation. Wish we we would have come here earlier

Had the most excellent veggie burger and lentil salad at Cafe Karibo. Portions are great, prices are reasonable and the options are very diverse! Was just passing through the area but if I lived here, I'd definitely be a regular.

Fast, friendly, attentive service. Great sandwiches and salads. A nice choice off the main Center Street restaurants and worth it. Highly recommended. They have a brewery next door, but only served one beer the day we had lunch. Not being a stout fan, I skipped trying it.

These people rock. We ordered late from Arte Pizza across the street and they let us order fab sav blanc and eat take-out at the bar (as their kitchen was closed). #localsrule

Oh man, ate there again yesterday cuz it's about the only place with legitimate vegan options. I had the Big Bella, and also lentil salad, both without dairy items and both were triple yummy. Jen went with the wrap and loved it. Service excellent, outdoor seating delightful. This place is pushing five stars but, I, just, can't bring myself, quite.

I love this place! I'm a vegetarian, and it's nice to go somewhere with multiple options for me that don't include a frozen black bean burger. Also, it would be easy for a vegan to eat here as well. This place has the best food I've had in awhile. I've been here twice and both time were amazing. Last time they had a limited menu for the shrimp fest, so I got Greek pasta. The best. And this time I got the veggie wrap and a side of the Asian noodles. I couldn't stop eating them! The restaurant is really pretty, has a nice porch, and my server Randey was great. I would make the trip back for the food alone, but it looks like they also have good selection of unique drinks and craft beer. Another plus is that it isn't too expensive! I was so surprised at my bill!

The scallops with peppers, cabbage and mashed potatoes combination were amazing. The added taco shell and creamy shiitake sauce was creative and delicious! The crab cakes and shrimp and grits were superb! Great service and affordable prices in a friendly and casual atmosphere. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Amelia Island.

Went here for dinner with my mother. Waiter was terrible. As we were telling him our orders he was not focused at all. I asked him a question and he gave me a completely random answer that had nothing to do with my question. I knew our order would be wrong and it was. Also, the veggie burger is beyond salty. I'm giving two stars because my food was pretty good. I do appreciate the manager coming over to fix what the waiter had messed up. Would definitely NOT go back here because bad service makes for a bad meal.

Had an amazing al fresco lunch at Cafe Karibe. The fish tacos and Asian Ahi tuna were fresh and delicious. Great location in the heart of historic Fernandina Beach.

We went here on Sunday, need to make sure you call ahead, since they have hours online in places that state they are open until 4, but in reality, they were only serving until 3 on Sunday. But call ahead of arrival to make sure. We had our two dogs and we were able to sit outside with them on the patio. It was a great day for outside dining. We wanted to try the Karibo Red, but they were out of this and another and only had their Wheat beer on tap, so disappointing there that they were out of the favored draft options. We had bottled beers, and their Smoke Salmon creation which was VERY good. We were impressed with the food and the staff was very friendly and attentive. When I asked one of the owners if we could sit outside with our dogs, they said "Yes", but hesitated and said that the large table had someone who was allergic to dogs and asked us to sit as far away from the one person at the long table as possible. We were the only ones with dogs there, so while they may allow dogs, they did not seem to be friendly with dogs on the patio.

The food was pretty good. Our party if 6 had a variety of menu items. I had the fish of the day, the snapper. It was fairly tough which I was attributing to being overcooked. It might be the first fish I have had that I had to really work to cut with a knife. The risotto was good as were the vegetables. We were a little surprised at the end of the night when our bill came that a 20% gratuity had been added to the bill. If we had a large party I could see that I guess, but there were only six of us. Overall seemed like a nice place, I would probably go back..

Loved it. Loved it. This quaint restaurant with the feel of Austin, Texas or Newport, California in the heart of historic downtown Fernandina Beach was a perfect spot for dinner. The outdoor patio was spacious and had a nice Caribbean appeal. First, the potato salad that comes with the sandwiches was nothing short of amazing. A must. The turkey rueben panini, veggie burger, couscous and ganache chocolate dessert was mouth watering and lingered long after we left. They have great offerings of wine and sangria to compliment. Highly recommended.

I really love this place but, my husband says it's too Foo-Foo for him! When I had the chance to plan my director's birthday dinner I knew this was the place for us girls! She is a pescatarian and this restaurant offers plenty of options for conscious eaters. I wish I would have taken a pic of everyone's food but I was the only foodie in the group so I opted for no ;) I ordered the tuna filet with a cauliflower purée and veggies with a mango salsa and yes it was amazing! Cooked perfectly and the flavor was outstanding. Not a drop or crumb left!!! One of my favorite places on the island. Their chicken salad, shrimp and grits, wraps and potato salad are also favorites. It's a must visit!!!!

I've come here a couple of times for lunch. The al fresco dining is pretty awesome. Everytime I've come here, the tables have been filled. The food is good too. I've only had salads and wraps here, so nothing too fancy. I still have to try dinner there because it seems like their lunch menu is a bit limited. But overall pretty great experiences. The laid back ambiance of eating out on the patio or balcony gives this place a huge plus.

We didn't know what to get so we got a little of everything and all of it literally was the BEST thing I've ever eaten! The smoked salmon will make you slap everybody you know! The tuna was AMAZING! We could eat there over and over!

Looking for a convenient brunch spot while in Fernandina Beach? Head to Cafe Karibo. It was a solid dining experience and boasted a well rounded brunch menu with quality brunch beverages. I loved my Bloody Mary - just the right amount of spicy and salty. Would be happy to recommend for anyone who wants a quaint garden patio to veg out on a Sunday morning.

Kick back and enjoy the Florida air! This unique restaurant offers a charming selection of american bistro-style food served indoor or my preference outdoor in the patio garden. I highly recommend their "Brunch Menu" featuring delicious shrimp-n-grits! For my fellow vegetarians, the veggie burger is amazing! It is a musty try in rustic Fernandina! Cafe Kari-DO!

Ate there yesterday and wasn't impressed. Mahi sandwich was like a crummy crab cake, fries were cold, wife's portobello sandwich was fair at best with hardly any cheese. We will pass on this place!

I love almost everything about this place! The food is just plain delicious. The veggie burger is hands down the best I've ever had. It's clearly homemade, which means it can get a bit sloppy to eat, but the combination of flavors is spot on. As other reviews have mentioned, there is a slight hint of curry in the burger so beware if you dislike curry. I think it's great! The friend I was with raved about the shrimp salad sandwich- delicious croissant, not too much mayo- and loved the side salad that came with it. I have also had the calamari/shrimp appetizer and ham sandwich in the past- also great! The only reason I cannot give it a full 5 stars is because I didn't love their home brews. The sip of the pilsner just wasn't for me, and their cider was pretty flat tasting. The sangria was alright. I would order it again. All-in-all the food makes up for their homebrewed drinks. The staff is polite and friendly. Service is a bit slower than the north, but it's nothing to complain about. I can't wait to be back in Florida to try more menu items!
